Chief Political Commissar of Police, AIGP Asan Kasingye defended President Museveni’s move to block one of his followers on Twitter.
Hillary Innocent Taylor Seguya, a Harvard University student filed a suit in August 2019 against the President for blocking him on Twitter.
He further added that AIGP Asan Kasingye and Government Spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo also blocked him and he couldn’t access there pages as well. He says that the decision of the 3 to block him has denied him a right to take part in the politics of the country.
Seguya said, “My account is for private/personal interest such as family, football, religion, sharing jokes and at times police-related matters but at a personal level like any other Ugandan citizen”.
AIGP Kasingye came out and said, “I have been advised by the Attorneys from the Attorney General’s Chambers whose advice I verily believe to be true that the twitter handles @KagutaMuseveni and @OfwonoOpondo are private twitter handles and not for the offices they hold”.
He further said that Seguya can access information about the President or Government through the State House account or Media Centre who share the similar information and asked court to dismiss Seguya’s case.
